Our origin story
Developed in response to a lack of accurate sick, D/disabled, chronically ill, Mad, D/deaf, and B/blind representation within the mainstream literary communities, Sick Stories exists to bring life to the stories that live inside us all. Our offerings will always be led by members of the Disability community, and we will always prioritize stories that connect us and each other to our bodies and how they move through the world.
Whether you have a book to finish, need some accountability for your writing practice, or just want to pick up some journal prompts in your own time and feel part of a larger community, we welcome you in to our workshops.
The kettle is on and Wi-Fi is connected.
When we have calls for submissions, they will always be for community members.
What are people saying about Sick Stories workshops?
It was very validating to write with such a focus on disability when that's so rare.
