(Th)Ink It Together

(Th)Ink It Together is a team-building creative writing activity. We often forget the power of imagination when wrapped up in the day-to-day details of life, but storytelling is how we make connections with others, and how we make sense of the world. The stories and characters created in Th(Ink) It Together will be encouraged to be fantastical and even utopian, helping us to think of ways we can dream of, and then create, environments that are suited to everyone.

How it works goes something like this: participants create a group character using their senses, realities, and interests to ground them in their environment. In smaller groups, or individually, they'll write a flash fiction piece (a story under 1000 words) about this character, with the option to share at the end.

Sick Stories experienced facilitators will be on hand to offer guidance, prompts, and ask curiosity-inducing questions. We all have the power of story inside us and we're here to help you develop that together. We ask for around two hours to complete this workshop, with a scheduled small break during this time.

Great for team-building activities, classrooms, or a writing enrichment workshop for extracurricular clubs of all ages. Interested? Please fill out an application of interest form and we’ll get back to you within a few days with a quote.

Note: we cannot currently provide this workshop for under-18s unless there is an adult present with enhanced vulnerable sector screening. Teachers, social supports, and group leaders often have this.

Disability In The Media: A Webinar

This is our crash course for Disabled folks and allies alike wanting to learn more about what’s currently out there in terms of disability representation in the mainstream media, and if your favourite shows, films, or books are generally endorsed by the disability advocacy community.

We'll cover three sections of media throughout the webinar: film, TV, and literature.

Covering tropes and harmful stereotypes, current cultural conversations, and good examples of representation, you'll be able to take this knowledge forward and better scrutinize the representation you see in the future.

You'll also be introduced to organizations and individuals doing great work in advancing disability representation and awareness in the arts - at no extra cost! Let’s support each other with an abundance mindset, not scarcity.

This webinar will take just an hour of your time, including a Q&A.

Register your interest here to bring this to your workplace, school, conference, etc, and we’ll be in touch!
